After completing his Honours in Fine Art and Masters of Communication Design at RMIT in Naarm/Melbourne, Andrew developed a hybrid practice as a print-based artist and designer. He specialised in printmaking, branding, illustration, and print design. Andrew now explores the role of craft by merging traditional and contemporary print techniques within art and design. His visual language is strongly influenced by activism and politics and always seeks to engage with the richness and history of manual processes where possible.
He has collaborated with international artists and award-winning Melbourne design/print studios Fabio Ongrato and Negative Press in custom screen printing projects and art commissions. He provides niche knowledge and unique perspectives for exhibition design and graphic identities.
As an artist, Andrew has exhibited at galleries such as Port Jackson Press, RMIT School of Art Gallery, Testing Grounds. He has also worked on public art projects for the City of Moreland, Stonnington Council, and the City of Melbourne.
Andrew is a sessional lecturer at RMIT in the School of Art as an industry professional, teaching contemporary printmaking practice. In November 2018, Andrew founded AMCD Studio.
Elizabeth McKinnon
Elizabeth is a highly experienced and skilled practising visual artist/mosaicist who specialises in creating large-scale public mosaic artworks with diverse communities across Melbourne’s west as well as in regional areas of Victoria. Training as a sculptor, (both traditional and conceptual) at the South Australian School of Art during the 1970s she took time out involving herself in the set up of New Circus, the precursor to Circus Oz – then travelling with traditional Swiss Circus Royale 1975 -77 and Circus Oz in 1982.
Moving to Footscray in 1985, Elizabeth resumed her sculptural journey and developed a studio based prefabrication technique for mosaic panels with mentor George Seelaf and using this innovation opened up endless possibilities to build mosaic artworks at any scale with community engagement for public places, a good example being the History of the Land Gardens in Pipemakers Park, Maribyrnong.
When researching, designing, fabricating, and installing public artworks relating to place, Elizabeth takes into account the ecology, geology, archaeology, and landscape and prioritises working with First Nations peoples via the Wurundjeri Tribe Council and the Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative. Projects are funded by local, state & federal government grants, schools, consultancies, and private commissions.
